Some Lesser Known Facts About Scott Turner
His family had started the Mount Pisgah Baptist Community Church in Dallas, Texas in 1898.
His parents divorced when he was 10 years old.
He worked as a dishwasher in the Spring Creek Barbeque in Richardson, Texas, while studying at J. J. Pearce High School, Texas, United States.
He earned a full academic and athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and met his wife, Robin Turner when he was 19 in the University.
While studying at the University, he would regularly meet his mentor Tim Johnson every Wednesday morning for Bible study.
He started his career in the offensive position of wide receiver but was later moved to the defensive position of cornerback during his final year of University by his coach.
He was a professional athlete in the National Football League (NFL) from June 1995 to June 2005. He retired from the NFL due to a leg injury resulting from a torn hamstring tendon during training in 2004.
He started his own motivational speaking company in 1996.
His mentor, Darrell Green had advised him about being an NFL player and to prepare to retire every year. According to Scott, this advice helped him plan his future endeavours.
While playing in the NFL, he served as a player representative and worked on the annuity plan, line of duty benefits, and increase in pensions provided by the league.
He has worked as the Chief Inspiration Officer in a software development company, Systemware, Inc. in Texas from April 2007 to June 2023.
He worked as a professional mentor, pastor, and councillor for the employees and executive team of the company.
In 2016, he received an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University for outstanding Christian Leadership.

He has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Community Engagement & Opportunity Council in Plano, Texas since March 2021.
He founded the organisation along with his wife, Robin Turner to help the underprivileged and provide them with sustainable resources and opportunities.
In June 2023, he became the Chief Visionary Officer at JPI, a leading construction and development company based out in Dallas, Texas.
