In 2012, he interned at Bharti Airtel for three months.
In 2014, he worked as an officer trainee for Indian Police Services.
In 2015, he became an IPS officer of the Punjab cadre. However, he resigned after a year.
In 2016, he again passed the UPSC exam and was selected for Indian Revenue Services. He was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax in the Ministry of Finance.
In 2024, Saurabh made headlines in connection with the suicide of a woman named Shilpa Gautam.
Shilpa was a permanent resident of Quarsi, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh
Reportedly, Saurabh and Shilpa were in a live-in relationship.
When the officials inspected Saurabh’s apartment, they found an open liquor bottle and some of it had been consumed. They suspected Shilpa may have been drunk before her death.
According to the police, Shilpa had been married once before. She got divorced in 2021.
After the suicide, Shilpa’s family alleged that she had been dating Saurabh for the past three years. They met through a dating app. Shilpa’s father, Omprakash Gautam, accused Saurabh of fraud and physical abuse. OP Gautam claimed that Saurabh Meena made false promises of marriage to Shilpa, but later, he refused to marry her. This led to frequent arguments between the couple. On the contrary, Saurabh countered by saying that he met Shilpa through a dating app three months and not three years ago.
