Her father, Dr B. G. Tandon, was a prolific writer, professor, and HOD of English at Vikram University in Ujjain and had written 17 books on English literature.
At a very early age, she started her modelling career and has walked the ramp at various fashion shows.

In 2006, she participated in the contest of Femina Cover Girl where she ended up as the first runner-up.
Saumya Tandon got her first role in 2006 in the TV serial âAisa Des Hai Meraâ as Rusty Deol.
She made her Bollywood debut in 2007 by playing the role of Kareena Kapoor âs sister âRoopâ in the film âJab We Met.â

Her husband Saurabh Devendra Singh is the CEO of 1018mb, a web platform that allows users to watch their favourite films on the big screen at their local theatre. They got married in December 2016 after being in a relationship of 10 years.
In August 2022, Saumya Tandon took to social media to urge her fans to help the family of actor Deepesh Bhan , who died in July 2022. She launched a campaign on Instagram so that Mr Bhanâs family could repay a home loan worth Rs 50 lakh. In a video that she shared on Instagram, the actress appealed to her fans to help Mr Bhanâs family repay the home loan. She said,
Deepesh Bhan is no more with us but his memories are still with us. He often used to talk about his home, which he bought for his family after taking a home loan. He got married and even has a son but then he left us. Now, we can help him by giving back his house to his son. I have created a fund and whatever amount will be collected will be given to Deepeshâs wife, through which she can pay the home loan. So, please contribute to make Deepeshâs dream come true.â
