Sandeep is a swimmer and an Asian Games medalist.
His sister Pallavi Sejwal is also a national medalist in swimming.
He got training in swimming from the famous Indian swimming coach Nihar Ameen in K.C. Reddy Swim Center, Bangalore.
He is supported by GoSports Foundation, a sports non-profit organization that aims to promote sporting excellence in India.
He is the Senior National Champion and Indian National Record-holder in the 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m Breaststroke events.
In 2007, he won the silver medals at the Asian Indoor Games in the 50 m and 100 m Breaststroke events.
He was the first Indian breaststroke swimmer who qualified for an Olympic Games.
He participated in the men’s 100 m and 200 m breaststroke events at the 2010 Asian Juniors in Beijing but not reached the finals in both events.
In 2012, he qualified in the swimming events for London Olympics at the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai after clocking 1:02.92s in the 100m breaststroke event.
