During his childhood, he attended Carol Godby’s acting school in Bury, England, where he met his wife, Briony Gardner.
In 2003, he became a regular cast member of one the longest-running British TV shows, ‘Coronation Street’ and has completed 22 years on the show as of 2025.

His sister, Emily Aston, and his brother, Joseph Aston have also appeared on the show.
When he was 16, he founded a printing firm. The firm is run by one of his brothers, along with their embroidery business.
In October 2005, as part of the 50-year celebration of the British TV network, ITV, he met the Queen of England, Elisabeth II and presented her with a bouquet.
