Sagar Rana was an Indian former junior national wrestling champion. He won many awards and body-building competitions.
He was born and raised in Haryana, India.
Sagar was inspired by wrestler Sushil Kumar to take up wrestling as his professional career.
He started his wrestling training at the age of 6.
He was trained in pehlwani wrestling at the Akhada Chattrasal Stadium, Delhi.
On the night of 4 May 2021, Sagar Rana was murdered by a group of people in the parking lot of Satapal Akhada Chattersal Stadium, Delhi. India’s two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar ‘s name appeared as one of the accused in connection with the murder of Sarag Rana.
An FIR was launched against Sushil Kumar and four other people on 5 May 2021 in the murder case of Sagar Rana. He had been absconding since the FIR was registered against him. Later, a lookout warrant was issued against Sushil Kumar and his associate Ajay Kumar by the Delhi Police. A bounty of Rs 1 Lakhs and Rs 50,000 on Sushil and Ajay, respectively, was also announced for any information regarding them.
