| Controversies | • In December 2024, a sexual assault case was registered against S P Sreekumar and his co star Biju Sopanam . The case was filed by the female actress of the show Uppum Mulakum. According to her complaint one accused sexually assaulted her and other allegedly threatned her to not to speak to anyone about the incident. The case was initially registered at Infopark Police Station, Kakkanad, Kerala and then transferred to Thrikkakara Janamaithri Police Station for futher investigation. S P Sreekumar is an Indian actor who works in the Malayalam film and TV industry. He is known for his comedy roles.
S P hails from a small village of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was born and raised in a middle-class family.
From childhood, he was fond of music and acting, so he used to participate in various events and competitions at various schools and colleges.
He did his graduation in music from Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. After his graduation in music, he participated in many musical reality shows.
He also participated in an acting reality show and won the first runner-up position in the show. So he decided to choose acting over music and singing as a career.
Before moving to TV and films, Sreekumar started doing theatre to brush up his acting skills. In 2010 he got his debut film and TV serial.
He once revealed that, in the initial days of his acting career he was very introverted and didn’t like to socialise with other team members. But later he started opening up on the set.
His character as Lolithan in Marimayam (2011), gave him a big break. He got recognition in the TV and film industry. People still call him by the name “Lolithan”.
Within a short lifespan, he did a variety of roles like tribal youth Sankaran, in Papilio Buddha (2012), a typical Kochiite Lloyd Fernandes with slang in ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi (2012), and a serial killer in the film Memories (2013).
In Papilio Buddha (2012), Sree was in the lead role. This film was one of the most controversial films in India at that time. The film had visuals and dialogues defaming iconic leaders including Mahatma Gandhi. The International Film Festival of Kerala also denied the screening of the film, so a private screening of the film was done in Thiruvananthapuram.
During an interview, Sree mentioned that he didn’t want to quit television for films, so he continued his serial Marimayam (2011) while also acting in films.
Some of the TV serials of S P Sreekumar are Back Benchers (2015), Uppum Mulakum Season 1 (2015), Kalli Walli (2018), Nellikka (2020), Chakkappazham (2020), and Uppum Mulakum Season 3 (2024).
Sreekumar once said acting is his passion, and he doesn’t mind portraying any role whether it is a comic role, a serious one or even a character with grey shades.
Sreekumar’s wife Sneha Sreekumar was his co-star in Marimayam (2011). The couple met on the set and dated for almost six years before getting married. They also appeared in many reality shows together.

S P Sreekumar’s wife once revealed that he has a habit of forgetting things like mobile phones, ATM cards, flight boarding passes and even his wallet.
In an interview, he once stated that, unlike acting music is also his passion. Therefore, he keeps practising playing musical instruments and singing as well.
