Controversies • In August 2022, in his autobiography, Ross Taylor: Black & White, written (with Paul Thomas), Ross Taylor revealed that he was offended by race-based remarks from teammates and staff in New Zealand dressing rooms during his career. Ross has Samoan heritage on his mother’s side, and according to him, other players have also faced racism in New Zealand cricket. He wrote, “Cricket in New Zealand is a pretty white sport. For much of my career I’ve been an anomaly, a brown face in a vanilla line-up." check sources
The Telegraph
In the same book, he made a shocking revelation that during his stint with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals, one of the owners of the franchise slapped him across the face after he had gotten out for a duck in a steep chase against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Taylor wrote, "Rajasthan played Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. The chase was 195, I was lbw for a duck and we didn't get close. One of the Royals owners said to me, 'Ross, we didn't pay you a million dollars to get a duck' and slapped me across the face three or four times." check sources
