He hit the headlines in December 2024 when an arrest warrant was issued against him by the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner for not submitting the PF dues worth Rs. 23.36 lakhs in the accounts of the employees while serving as the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd. In his defence, Uthappa claimed that he had resigned from the post years ago and had no executive role in the company.
