Some Lesser Known Facts About Robin Hibu
Robin Hibu belongs to the Apatani tribe, a tribal Hindu group.
He came from a family with a farming background, but they did not have enough land to support themselves. He would gather and sell firewood to earn extra income.
Robinās community did not have a school, but he loved learning and walked about ten kilometres to attend school.
After finishing his school education, he decided to go to Delhi for higher studies.
He did not have enough money for a train reservation, so he had to sit on the floor in front of the toilet during his journey from Arunachal Pradesh to Delhi.
In Delhi, Robin Hibu could not find a place to stay and slept outside a vegetable warehouse near Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
After a few days, he got a room at JNUās Narmada Hostel.
In 2007, Robinās father was in a coma for four days while waiting for Robin to return from Delhi. When Robin held his fatherās hand, he came back to life for half an hour before passing away.
He does not own a government house, car, or two-wheeler in New Delhi.
He is the founder and president of Helping Hands, an NGO that helps people from northeastern states in distress. He donates 20% of his salary to Helping Hands.
Robin Hibu has served as the Joint Commissioner of Police in New Delhi. He often speaks about womenās safety and racism against North-East Indians in Delhi.

Robin Hibu has held various positions including Special Commissioner of Police at Delhi Armed Police, Chief Security Officer at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Managing Director at Delhi Police Housing Corporation.
He also served as the Vigilance Chief of the Transport Safety Division of the Delhi Police.
In 2017, Robin Hibu organized a Thanksgiving event called āIndia for North East People-Unity in Diversityā to honour those who had supported people from the North East.
In 2019, Indian boxer and Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom supported Hibuās NGO, Helping Hands, and provided financial aid to Northeastern COVID-19 patients in Delhi.
