Renee Kujur was born in a lower-middle-class family in Pirai village, Bagicha tehsil, Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh.

Renee was inclined towards modelling from a very young age.
At the age of 3, Renee participated in a fancy dress competition in her school. She dressed like a fairy. When Renee walked on the stage, someone shouted from behind “Dekho Dekho Kali Pari” (Look, a black fairy) and everybody around started laughing at her. Kujur was left in tears and went down the stage.
Her parents could not support her education due to her father’s poor health. Her father suffered a heart attack and later, was diagnosed with cancer. However, she worked hard to complete her schooling.
After completing her schooling, Renee started doing odd jobs to earn money so that she could make her portfolio.
Despite facing criticism for her dusky complexion a number of times, Kujur determined to become a model.
When Renee started circulating her portfolio, she initially faced a lot of rejection; as everyone said that they only need fair models.
Renee shared during an interview that being a tribal girl, she was expected to opt for a government job and nothing more.
Renee started her modelling career when she was 28 years old.
Renee did a photoshoot for JJ Valaya. During the shoot, they realised that with a darker tone, Renee look very much like the international star Rihanna and then, there was no looking back for Renee.
Renee instantly rose to fame after her photos of striking resemblance to Rihanna went viral on the internet.

Renee works for the modelling agency, Satin Models India, and has worked with fashion designers like Pam Mehta, Chetan Chiller, and Vijay Balhara.

Not just looks, Renee even shares a similar Instagram handle to Rihanna. Renee’s Instagram handle is “badgirlrene,” which is a take on Rihanna’s “badgirlriri.”
Renee is greatly influenced by Rihanna and says that her journey will complete once she meets Rihanna in person.
During an interview, Renee shared that earlier she had to deal with the photographers who asked the makeup artists to make her look “3-4 tones lighter.” They even photoshopped her pictures heavily to make her look fairer.
Renne shared in an interview that people even offered her to sleep with them to get a good job. While sharing her journey, Renee said,
They told me all models are into prostitution. I won’t become a model unless I pleased clients. Being dark had already killed my chances.”
Renee said in an interview that earlier she used to hide her real age while modelling; because people often used to reject her on the basis of her age. She said,
People usually want younger models. I started my modelling career at the age of 28. People told me I was overage. Agencies rejected me only on the basis of my age without even meeting me in person.”
Kujur credits her resemblance to Rihanna as the reason she has continued to get modelling gigs.
Renee is well versed in Hindi and English languages.
Renee was born as Renu. However, she later changed her name to Renee on the advice of a modelling agency.
Before making a name in the field of modelling, Renee used to work as a salesperson in a Tommy Hilfiger store.
