Rekha Patra was the first woman who protested against the TMC leaders Sheikh Shahjahan, Shibu Hazra, and Uttam Sardar for sexual abuse against the tribal women in the Sandeshkhali.
In March 2024, Rekha Patra filed a complaint against the All India Trinamool Congress leader Debangshu Bhattacharyya for violating the right to privacy.
