Reema started acting in theatre plays after finishing school in Pune.
Her mother, Mandakini Bhadbhade, was a renowned Marathi theatre actress and was known for the drama âLekure udand Jaahalee.â
Though her real name was âNayan Khadbadeâ, she changed her name to âReema Lagooâ after her marriage.
She got separated from her husband after few years of their marriage.
Lagoo started her Bollywood career in the early 1980s and for the first time, she played the role of a mother at the age of 31.
She is known for her âon-screen motherâ roles in superhit films like âHum Aapke Hain Kounâ, âKal Ho Naâ Hoâ, âMaine Pyar Kiyaâ, âSaajanâ, âVaastavâ, âKuch Kuch Hota Haiâ, and âHum Saath-Saath Hainâ to name a few.Â
Apart from films, she also acted in several TV serials and Marathi language plays.
One of her most memorable roles was of a mother-in-law in Star Plusâ show âTu Tu Main Mainâ alongside Supriya Pilgaonkar, who played the role of her daughter-in-law.
On 18 May 2017, at around 3.15 am, she died of a âcardiac arrestâ in Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai. The same night, she was complaining of chest pain after which her daughter and son-in-law took her to the hospital around 1 a.m.
She was last seen in Star Plusâ Mahesh Bhatt co-directed show âNaamkarann.â
