On 23 December 2008, Ravneet Singh Bittu became the first democratically elected President of the Punjab Youth Congress.
In 2009, he contested the Indian general election on a ticket of the Indian National Congress from the Anandpur Sahib constituency. He won it by a margin of more than 60,000 votes, defeating SAD candidate Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema.
In 2014, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha, this time from the Ludhiana constituency and won by a margin of 20,000 votes, defeating Harvinder Singh Phoolka of the Aam Aadmi Party.
In 2019, he contested the 17th Lok Sabha elections from Ludhiana and defeated Simarjeet Singh Bains of the Liberal State Party by a margin of over 70,000 votes. In 2020, Ravneet Singh participated actively in the farmers’ rights protests against the government. On 27 July 2021, Ravneet Singh along with Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, sat in protest in parliament after the adjournment of the house.

In January 2021, at the Singhu border, he was allegedly subjected to a “murderous attack” by some “mischievous elements” who assaulted, pushed, and removed his turban during a Jan Sansad program. He claimed that during the attack at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Memorial, where he had gone to attend the occasion alongside Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla and party MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, his vehicle was also damaged. After the incident, Ravneet Singh Bittu took to Facebook and talk about the situation and wrote a post that read,

From 11 March 2021 to 18 July 2021, he led the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha.
