Rasheed Naz is a Pakistani actor who is known for his roles in Pakistani TV dramas and films. In 2023, he appeared in the film ’72 Hoorain,’ a multi-lingual film.
He started working with his family in their fruit trading business, after completing his studies.
He started his acting career in the Pashto television industry. However, he later started working in Urdu and Hindko television dramas and films.
In an interview, he talked about his entry into the showbiz industry. He said that during the war of 1971 between India and Pakistan, he, along with his friends, decided to help the needy people for which they organised a variety show as a means of raising funds. It was during this event that he was spotted by a Pashto television production company which later offered him a role in a Pashto drama.
It was his appearance in the television drama ‘Namoos’ that brought him widespread recognition and fame.
In 1993, he acted in the Urdu television drama ‘Dasht,’ which was broadcasted on Pakistan’s first private channel NTM.
His performance in the Urdu drama series ‘Ghulam Gardish’ (1998), on PTV, received huge appreciation from the audience.

After making his debut in the Urdu cinema with the film ‘Dakait’ (2001), he appeared in the film ‘Larki Punjaban’ in 2003.
In 2006, he appeared in the Urdu drama series ‘Manzil’ in which he played the role of Hayat Khan. The show was broadcasted on ARY TV.
He played the role of Maulana Tahiri in the Urdu film ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ in 2007.

In 2009, he essayed the role of Ashiq Khan in the English-language film ‘Kandahar Break.’
In 2012, he appeared in the Urdu drama ‘Teri Raah Main Rul Gai,’ which aired on Urdu 1. His son, Hasan Noman, shared the screen with him in the show.

In the same year, he appeared in a Pashto film ‘Arman’ in which he played the role of Khan Sahab.
Some of his notable television dramas include ‘Phir Kab Milo Gay,’ ‘Anokhi,’ ‘Saiban Sheshay ka,’ ‘Inkaar,’ and ‘Dayar-e-Dil.’
In his Bollywood debut film ‘Baby’ (2015), Rasheed Naz shared the screen with popular actors Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher . His son, Hasan Noman, also made an appearance in the film.

In 2017, he made an appearance in the Pashto language film ‘Gul E Jana.’
Rasheed Naz has acted in the Hindi language film ’72 Hoorain,’ which was later released in English and 10 other Indian languages, namely Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film was initially screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 2019 and received the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal there. The film was released in theatres in 2023 after his demise.
Some notable Urdu films done by Rasheed Naz include ‘Qayamat – A Love Triangle In Afghanistan’ (2003), ‘Larki Punjaban’ (2003), ‘Karachi se Lahore’ (2015), ‘Pari’ (2017), and Verna (2017).
His son, Hasan Noman, was married to Madiha Rizvi. The couple part ways in 2022.
At the age of 73, he took his last breath in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 17th January 2022. He had been dealing with health issues for some time. After his death, his body was taken to Peshawar, where his funeral was held.
