Some Lesser Known Facts About R. Kesava Aiyangar
He served as a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India.
He practiced law for 75 years in both Supreme Court of India as well as the High Court of Madras.
He was one of the longest serving lawyers in India.
He is recognised as a crucial exponent of the Hindu law.
He played a crucial role in framing the format of the writ petition in courts of India.
He served as the president of the Tamil Sangam in Triplicane for over three years.
Some of his works written during the time includes Parthasarathymalai, Thirupadugamalai and Andalmalai.
Apart from being a senior lawyer R. Kesava was also a respected scholar of Hindi and Sanskrit languages.
In 1974, a book Vedanta Desika’s Satadushani of Srivatsankacharya was published. The book has a comprehensive introduction of the high scholarly values of R. Kesava Aiyangar. He also authored a book titled “Adiyavarku Meyyan Arul” which explains the philosophy of Saranagati.
Some of his great work is the work in Tamil about Thirukkural of Thiruvalluvar called Valluvar Ullam. Â It establishes with great potential that Thirukkural is a part of the Vedic tradition and is not independent of Vedic traditions, it also gives extensive references from Sanskrit literature and various other ancient Tamil Hindu works which reflect the thoughts of the Thirukkural.
