Puja Thakur Sekera was born and brought up in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
She has worked as a lecturer at the SD College in Muzaffarnagar and Meerut Engineering College. She has also worked with the media house – “NETWORK 18.”
She has been working as a social activist for an NGO called Shram Sewa & Rudraushtika International Foundation for more than 14 years. Her social work has benefited a lot to the Bawariya Criminal Tribe. While working with the NGO, she has contributed to the upliftment of women prisoners, children, leprosy patients, mentally challenged, and senior citizens. She is often spotted donating the essential commodities to the needy ones at the railway stations and hospitals.
In 2018, she launched “Mission SASHAKT;” it’s main aim is to empower the women.
Dr Puja Thakur Sekera has been reaching out to the girls by carrying out extensive talk sessions at rural, urban, semi-urban schools and colleges. She has been reaching out to students, teachers, and lecturers of various academic institutions all over Uttar Pradesh as part of spreading awareness under her project mission -“Sashakt.”
In 2020, the MX Player Web Series “Bhaukaal” was based on the life of her IPS husband, Navniet Sekera. In this web series Puja Thakur Sekera’s character was played by the actress Rashmi Rajput.
She is an ardent follower of Lord Shiva.
