Prem Chand Bairwa is an Indian politician who is known for becoming the 7th Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan in 2023. He is a BJP MLA from Dudu constituency.
Premchand comes from a Dalit family.
He began his political journey with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and actively participated in the Dudu Block organization from 1995.
In 2000, he achieved success in Ward 15 of Dudu, marking his initial triumph as a Zilla Parishad member.
In 2008, he became the District President of SC Morcha in Jaipur Rural. Additionally, he held the position of General Secretary in Dudu BJP Mandal. He is also the president of Bairava Mahasabha.
In 2013, he won the Assembly elections and was elected as the BJP MLA from Dudu constituency defeating Congress candidate Hazari Lal Nagar with a margin of 33,720 votes.
In 2018, he lost the seat to Babu Lala Nagar by a margin of 14,779 votes in the 2018 Assembly elections.
In 2023, he represented the Dudu constituency in the Assembly elections and secured victory by defeating Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with 35,743 votes.
On 12 December 2023, he was chosen as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan along with Diya Kumari under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. After becoming the deputy CM, in an interview, he said,
It can happen only in BJP where an ordinary party worker is given such a responsibility. I will work for the upliftment of Dalits and all other sections of society.”
