Some Lesser Known Facts About Preeti Bose
Preeti Bose is an Indian cricketer who plays as a bowler for the India Women’s national cricket team. In February 2023, during the auctions of the inaugural Women’s Premier League in Mumbai, Preeti was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 30 lakhs.
She grew up in a middle-class family in Sonipat Haryana.
As a child, Preeti used to play gully cricket with the boys of her locality.
Good at academics in her school days, Preeti scored 62 percent marks in class 10 and studied bio in class 11.
She played cricket with a leather ball for the first time when she was in class 11.
Once while she was playing cricket with her friends, she attracted the attention of her school’s sports teacher, who offered her to play for her school’s cricket team.
Although her parents wanted her to become a doctor, they agreed to let Preeti pursue Cricket at the request of her school’s sports teacher.
While she was in college, she got selected in the Haryana Women’s cricket team, and in 2007, she played a U-19 tournament for Haryana Women’s cricket team.
In 2008, she played a key role in making Haryana Women win the Rani Jhansi Trophy.
She has also played several cricket matches for the Railways (India) Women’s team.
Preeti came into the spotlight after picking up fifer to help India Blue beat India Red by 18 runs in the senior women’s Challenger Trophy in 2015. She took five wickets after giving 43 runs in the finals.
Soon, she began playing zonal matches for Haryana Cricket Association. At the zonal level, Preeti Bose picked up the wicket of Harmanpreet Kaur several times. Impressed with Preeti’s bowling skills, Harmanpreet selected her for the Indian A in a series against Sri Lanka in 2014. In the series, she took three wickets.
During her debut One Day International against Sri Lanka, Preeti took two wickets in the match.

She then played a three-match series against Sri Lanka in which she got the opportunity to play in only one match. Preeti gave 4 maidens in the match by giving 8 runs in 8 overs.
After the match, she was dropped from the Indian team and started playing at the domestic level.
Preeti played her first T20 International match against West Indies Women at Vijayawada on 18 November 2016.
In 2016, her bowling helped India win the Women’s Asia Cup T20 title by defeating Pakistan with 17 runs in the finals that was played in Bangkok.
In 2018, Bose gave an exceptional performance for India A.
Although Preeti is a right-hand batswoman, she is also trained in a left-hand batting style.
She is very particular about her fitness and follows a strict workout regimen.
