His father wanted him to become a wrestler.
He completed his schooling in Lucknow and later moved to Delhi for 2 years for his further education. During his school and college days, Prateek was very active in sports and played wrestling.

Since a young age, he has been active in politics and has campaigned for various elections in India.
After completing his formal education in Australia, Prateek moved back to India and became a member of the Indian right-wing, Hindu nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). While working with the RSS, he was appointed as a Vidyarthi Vistarak.

In 2017, at the age of 28, Prateek became the youngest candidate from Uttar Pradesh to contest in a state legislative assembly elections.
After he was elected as the BJP candidate at the age of 28, Prateek was accused of Nepotism and many claimed that it was only due to his father Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh that he got the ticket at 28 otherwise BJP gave tickets to the people aged 35 or above.
