From 1995 to 2009, he served as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Mehkar constituency.
Prataprao Jadhav served as the State Minister for Sports, Youth Welfare, and Irrigation from 1997 to 1999.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Buldhana constituency in Maharashtra in 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024.
