His Father, Mario JosĆ© Bergoglio, was an Italian immigrant accountant born in Portacomaro (Province of Asti) in Italyās Piedmont region.
Mario JosĆ©ās family left Italy in 1929 to escape the fascist rule of Benito Mussolini.
