Some Lesser Known Facts About Pinaki Misra
Pinaki Misra hails from Puri, Odisha.
Misra has been interested in sports since childhood. He played soccer, hockey, and cricket throughout his school and college years and also served as the captain of the football team at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi.
Misra performed in various plays during his school and college days. He also actively participated in extracurricular activities, such as debates, and won many of them.
He pursued an LLB from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He specialised in Corporate Law, Foreign Exchange, Customs and Excise Laws, Mining Laws, Company Laws, Environmental Laws, and Constitutional Law.
After graduating from the University of Delhi, Pinaki Misra began his legal career as a senior advocate. He went on to represent numerous high-profile cases in the Supreme Court, as well as major High Courts and tribunals across India.

In 1996, Misra entered politics with the Indian National Congress (INC) party and won the 11th Lok Sabha elections from the Puri constituency with 6,89,395 votes.
In 2009, Pinaki won the 15th Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 2,11,305 votes; he contested the elections on a ticket from Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Pinaki Misra has visited over 30 countries. In 2013, he went to Sri Lanka with the Indian Parliamentary Delegation for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference. He also visited Austria that year as part of the same delegation.
In 2014, Misra defeated the Indian National Congress candidate Sucharita Mohanty with a margin of 2,63,361 votes in the 16th Lok Sabha elections.
In 2019, Misra contested the 17th Lok Sabha elections and defeated Sambit Patra , a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, by a margin of 11,714 votes.
