Peter Dinklage was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that causes short-limbed dwarfism. He is the only member of his family with this condition.
Peter descends from German, English, and Irish ancestry and is related to the Westphalian noble German family âVon Dincklage.â
Peter was 2 when he lived next to Bruce Springsteen, who later became a famous singer and guitarist. Bruce would often come around to play guitar and practice.
As kids, Peter and his brother would make drum kits out of tuna cans and perform puppet musicals for their neighbours.

After graduating, he moved to New York City with his friend Ian Bell to start a theatre company; however, they could not pay the rent and had to move out of their apartment.
Peter then lived in Williamsburg and West Village in New York for 20 years. During this time, he worked for six years at a data-processing company after which he pursued acting full-time.
After college, Peter lived in a poorly maintained Brooklyn apartment with a smelly bathroom, no heat, and mice. He even adopted a cat to deal with the mice.

Peter once hit the headlines when he unintentionally ignored actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globe Awards event as they were approaching while he was walking up the stage. The couple expected him to stop, but he did not see them and passed by. Peter, however, later clarified that he did not notice them at that time.
