Oliver Daemen is a Dutch teenage physics student who joined Jeff Bezos , a billionaire, into space on 20 July 2021. Oliver Daemen became the youngest person ever to fly to space and the fourth crew member of the flight.
Jeff Bezosâ âBlue Originâ space company announced on 15 July 2021 that Oliver Daemen won the online bidding and reserved his seat for space.
On 20 July 2021, the four people on a space mission included Oliver Daemen, Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark Bezos , and the legendary aviation pioneer âWally Funkâ who at the age of 82 oldest person to travel space.

In July 2021, Blue Origin company designed âThe New Shepard capsuleâ to carry space tourists and researchers. Oliver Daemen and the other crew experience about three minutes of weightlessness during the 10-to-12-minute flight.
In July 2021, Blue Origin said in a statement that Oliver was not the actual winning bidder of the seat. They said that the actual winner, whose name was not disclosed, skipped this flight due to âscheduling conflictsâ so the company slotted Oliver Daemen. This anonymous bidder won the seat on $28 million. The company further stated that Oliver was the participant in the auction, but they did not disclose the amount Oliver Daemen paid for the seat.
Reportedly, Oliver Daemen got his pilotâs license in his gap year of studies, and he is the son of a private equity executive. He received his Private Pilot License (2020 â 2021) from GRUPO ONE AIR AVIACION SL.

The journey to and from space is only 10 minutes long, but I already know it will be the most memorable 10 minutes of my life.â
On July 20, 2021, Oliver Daemen, along with three fellow passengers Amazon founder Jeff Bezos , Mark Bezos , and female aviation pioneer Wally Funk, made a successful journey into space and landed back in West Texas. Blue Originâs New Shepard rocket soared from remote West Texas on the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing; Jeff Bezos chose this date for its historical significance. The Blue Origin flight went about 107 km high, while Bransonâs Virgin Galactic flight reached a height of 86 km. Reportedly, Elon Musk âs SpaceX Earth Orbit mission promises to go over 300 km up.

Oliver decided to pursue a degree in physics and innovation management at Utrecht University in the Netherlands in September 2021.
The Dutch teenager Oliver Daemen who became the worldâs youngest space traveller on 20 July 2021 surprised Jeff Bezos while on the flight in space by telling him that he had never ordered anything on Amazon.com. On 23 July 2021, in an interview with Reuters, Daemen said,
