Some Lesser Known Facts About Noora Fathima
Fathima Noora fell in love with Adhila Nasarin while studying in Class 12 in Saudi Arabia. Both flew back to India and completed their degree studies here.
During the Covid period, Noorah’s parents took her to Saudi Arabia, and they came to know about their daughter’s relationship.
Both girls’ families opposed the relationship tooth and nail and tortured them mentally and physically. They even tried to find grooms for the lovers.
Adhila filed a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court to reunite with her partner.
On 31 May 2022, the Kerala High Court ruled in their favour, allowing them to live together. The couple gained public recognition after the verdict, receiving both positive and negative responses from society.
She regularly posts about her personal and professional life and has over 80,000 followers as of August 2025. The couple faces regular cyberbullying, including abusive and religiously charged comments.
Psychotherapist Shibili Suhanah stated that their case reflects societal bias towards heterosexual relationships and that they face backlash for being homosexual and interreligious.

She also wants to help other individuals from the LGBTQ community in the future. They advocate for reforms such as the legalisation of same-sex marriage, gender-neutral government forms, and gender-neutral toilets.
She often highlights incidents of discrimination, such as a non-binary person being told to leave a public toilet and institutions insisting on father’s or spouse’s name in forms.
She once expressed hope for a future where same-sex relationships are legal in India and personal identity is not defined by paternity.
She is a pet lover and has two dogs, a Rottweiler named Tiger and a Belgian Malinois named Yoga.
