Some Lesser Known Facts About Nishad Fatima
Nishad Fatima is an Indian special educator for children. She is the daughter of the former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani, who is known for being a part of the 1983 Cricket  World Cup-winning Indian team.
Nishad Fatima, in January 2002, got married to Syed Fakhar Ali in a private nikah ceremony. Syed Fakhar was the son of the former Indian cricketer Abid Ali. Fakhar was also a Grade A international cricket player. Apart from playing cricket, Fakhar Ali also worked as regional director of a software company called Multimedia, Inc. in California and soon after their marriage, the couple moved to live in the United States of America.

Apparently, Nishad Fatima and Syed Fakhar Aliâs wedding was fixed by their fathers who knew each other from the time they played cricket for India. Talking about his decision on his daughterâs marriage, Syed Kirmani, said,
Fakhar liked what he saw of my daughter there (in a wedding ceremony held in Hyderabad). He decided he wanted her as his partner. I never knew all this. Then, a little over a year ago, Abid bhai called from the US, and said, âLook, Bhai, I want to take your daughter away from you; I want her to marry my son.â
Adding to this, he said,
I said, sure, but I need to know what your son does for a living and so on. We exchanged all relevant information by e-mail. He sent me his sonâs biodata, I sent him my daughterâs. There was a lot of information exchanged. As a parent, I wanted a lot of specific information from him. Everything seemed to fit perfectly. The will of the Almighty was also there. The marriage was fixed.â
Nishad Fatima lost her husband in a very tragic incident in 2008. Her husband, Syed Fakhar Ali, was playing a league match for Tracy United Cricket Club as a team member of the Northern California Cricket Association in Fremont, and suddenly he suffered a massive heart attack. He was immediately rushed to Fremontâs Washington Hospital where the doctors declared him dead after operating him for almost 15 minutes. Later, Â she, along with her son, went back to India to stay with her family residing there.
Soon after her husbandâs demise, Nishad Fatima found out that her son, Syed Hyder Ali, was suffering from PDDNOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified), a kind of autism spectrum disorder. She was shocked and disturbed after she came to know about her sonâs medical condition. In search of a better medical facility, she again moved to the US and exposed her son to the best of treatments available there.
During a media interaction, she shared that it was not an easy job for her to bring up her autistic child in a foreign land. Talking about one of her most difficult moments, she said,
In 2010, I came back to India on a vacation and it was during this time that Hyder developed the phobia of flying. We were to leave for the US via Hong Kong. Hyder refused to board the flight from Hong Kong to California and we were off-loaded thrice from the aircraft. It was a long wait at the airport for over 12 hours. We had sedated him but he woke up just before the take-off. The flight was on the runway and it was brought back after Hyder created chaos.â
