Gogan grew up in Northam, Western Australia.

At 15, she started working as a receptionist at a real estate agency in Northam. Later, she was offered a full-time traineeship in the office.
Gogan worked as a property manager before obtaining her sales qualifications in 2006. Then, she started working as a real estate agent.
From 2004 to 2006, she was Director of First Impressions at Ray White.

Gogan is a fashion enthusiast. Growing up, she regularly visited the Northam Race Club, where her father was a track manager. She grew fond of racewear fashion and started participating in Fashions on the Field (FOTF) events when she was 17.
She was the first runner-up at the Myer FOTF Women’s Racewear National Final — Melbourne Cup Carnival (2014).

In 2015, she ended her engagement to Tim Verlinden with whom she had a 12-year-long relationship.
In 2016, Nikki Gogan rose to popularity after appearing as a contestant on Season 4 of The Bachelor Australia, featuring the bachelor Richie Strahan . In the finale, Strahan chose single mother Alex Nation as his soulmate and Gogan was the runner-up.

Since her appearance on the show, she has done occasional modelling gigs and TV commercials.

In August 2016, it was reported that Gogan and her ex-fiance Verlinden shared joint ownership of two properties in Northam and were involved in a property dispute. One of the properties was bought for $540,000 in 2007.
