On 31 January 2017, US President Donald Trump nominated Gorsuch to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, to fill out the seat left vacant after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.
Gorsuch’s mother Anne Gorsuch Burford served under President Ronald Reagan as the first female Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
