Some Lesser Known Facts About Nathan Ellis
Nathan Ellis liked playing sports since childhood. His first sport was Tee-ball, which he didn’t like so he started playing cricket with his friends.
He wasn’t very interested in his studies but liked participating in activities such as sports and dancing functions.

He took private cricket coaching at Cricket NSW from September 2011 to February 2016.

In May 2013, he ran a marathon ‘Relay For Life’ for charity.

From September 2013 to September 2016, he worked as a part-time landscaper at the DC Mowing in Sutherland Shire.
In 2017, he injured his ankle after which an operation was done to treat the injury.

He met a lawyer named Connie Edwards who was working as a bar staff at Banstead Cricket Club in 2017. They later started dating and got married.

He played for many local teams but had to move to Tasmania in 2017 to play domestic cricket where he worked many odd jobs to sustain himself.
He worked as a marketing and sales assistant at The Real Learning Company from September 2017 to July 2019.
He also worked as a labourer in a construction company but left it because it made him tired.
He later worked as a furniture mover but left it also. During this time, he didn’t meet his family for 5 years.
In 2019, he decided to quit cricket, but the coach Adam Griffith told him to do pre-season with the full squad.
Since it didn’t guarantee a contract, he was confused but said yes as he didn’t want to regret the decision to quit.
In March 2019, he got a job as a teaching aide at St. Virgil’s College in Tasmania, till May 2020 which provided him with enough money to live.
In 2019, he got a contract from Cricket Tasmania and started playing domestic cricket regularly.
In 2021, he was first chosen as the travelling reserve player for the Australian cricket team in the 2021 T20 World Cup, but later got a place in the squad that won the tournament. He took 4 wickets at an average of 18.50 and an economy rate of 6.73.

On his T20I debut against Bangladesh, he took a hat-trick but the match was not broadcast in Australia due to YouTube geo-block.

In the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, he was acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 75 lakhs.

On 3 December 2023, during a T20I match against India, he hit a shot that hit the on-field umpire Virender Sharma, which otherwise would have gone to the boundary. Australia lost the match by 6 runs.
He is considered a very good death bowler. In the 2023 calendar year, he had the most wickets in T20Is (66).
In the 2025 IPL auction, Chennai Super Kings acquired him for Rs 2 crore against his base price of Rs 1.25 crore.
He likes to drink alcoholic beverages such as beer during parties or celebrations.
