Narendra Singh Tomar is an Indian politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has served three tenures as a Lok Sabha MP and has held cabinet ministries of various departments such as the Department of Agriculture & Farmersā Welfare, the Department of Rural Development, the Department of Panchayati Raj, and the Department of Parliamentary Affairs in the Modi government.
On 8 December 2003, he was assigned to various cabinet ministries under the government of Madhya Pradesh which included the Ministry of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, the Ministry of Public Relations, the Ministry of Fisheries, and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry.
He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in January 2009 through a by-election, for the seat that was left vacant by the passing away of Laxminarayan Sharma.
In May 2014, Narendra Singh Tomar preceded Sis Ram Ola to become the Minister of Labour and Employment, Beni Prasad Verma to become the Minister of Steel, and Dinsha Patel to become the Minister of Mines in the Modi government. In July 2016, he took charge as the Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj. In July 2017, he was assigned additional charge of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
