Namrata Singh Gujral, the Hollywood Producer, and Actor is a double-time Cancer survivor, first the Breast Cancer and then the Burkitt Lymphoma blood cancer.
She is the only South Asian woman in Hollywood who owns a production studio named American Pride Films Group and thus became the first American artist with Eastern roots to be featured on CMT
The character of Renu Mathur (played by Namrata Singh Gujral) in the Bollywood movie Kaante (2002), was the only role cast in Hollywood from the entire cast of the movie.
Besides acting in Indian roles she has also played Iranian, Pakistani, and Latin characters. She has been the part of various Television shows such as The Agency, Family Law, and Passions.
On knowing about her second illness she had even regarded committing suicide as an option. To keep herself going during her hospital sessions she had made her hospital room a spa where she had taken her LED candles, pictures of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Nanak Dev Ji along with CDs of kirtans and shabads.
In 2003, she was offered a small role in Dreamwork’s House of Sand and Fog. However, Namrata had accepted the offer considering this an opportunity to work with Ben Kingsley.
Due to her creative and commercial expertise on co-productions between Hollywood and Bollywood, Namrata was personally invited by Yash Chopra to speak on global co-productions at FICCI, which is India’s most esteemed entertainment conference.
