Controversy FIR registered for allegedly extorting 80 lakh from a businessman
On 5 November 2022, Namra Qadir was arrested by Gurgaon police after Dinesh Yadav, a Badshahpur resident and owner of an advertising firm, filed an FIR against her for honey-trapping him and allegedly extorting around Rs 80 lakh from him. Dinesh revealed that Namra and her husband, Virat Beniwal, threatened him of framing in a fake rape case if he refused to grant the demanded amount. Dinesh accused Namra of forcing him to drink at a party, capturing his private moments in the hotel room, and eventually blackmailing him in a fake rape case to extort money. Dinesh, in his complaint, revealed how he got involved with Namra, which read,
I had seen her videos on social media and had communicated with her. She introduced me to (her husband), who is also a YouTuber. They agreed to work with my company and asked for Rs 2 lakh advance, which I paid the same day. Later for some advertisement work, they asked for Rs 50,000 and I transferred it to their account. She said she would return the money later after her sister’s wedding. I also liked her and we started hanging out together, and (her husband) always accompanied her. One day, they took me to a club for a party and forced me to drink alcohol. The three of us then booked a room in the hotel and slept. The next morning, she asked me for my card and smartwatch and blackmailed me by threatening to lodge a rape case against me if I refused to do so.”


Dinesh lodged a complaint in August 2022, but Namra refused to cooperate with the investigation following which she applied for interim bail application. On 18 November 2022, her bail application was rejected by the district court and on 24 November 2022, an FIR was registered against her under IPC section 388 (extortion by threat of accusation of an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention), and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison etc). While addressing the reporters, police inspector Rajesh Kumar revealed that Namra confessed to the crime she committed and said,
Qadir has confessed to the crime and we have taken her on police remand to recover the money and other items that were taken by her from the victim under alleged pressure. Her husband and co-accused Manish alias Virat Beniwal will be arrested soon." check sources
