Some Lesser Known Facts About Nag Ashwin
Nag Ashwin belongs to a family of doctors in Hyderabad, Telangana.
In 2007, he began his career as an assistant director for the Telugu film Nenu Meeku Telusa?. Later, he worked as an assistant to the Indian film director Sekhar Kammula for the Telugu films Leader (2010) and Life Is Beautiful (2012). Nag Ashwin also acted in small roles in all three films.
His directorial debut film Yevade Subramanyam (2015) received mixed-to-positive reviews and a short time after its release was given the title of a cult classic.
In 2018, he directed the Telugu film Mahanati starring Keerthy Suresh . The film was a biopic of the Indian actress Savitri.
According to Ashwin, he spent six months researching about the actress’ life by reading articles, and books, and meeting old journalists and actors who worked with her. For the film, he was backed by the Indian film production company.
In February 2020, he announced that he was working on a new project, a science fiction action film titled ‘Project K’ along with Vyjayanthi Movies. However, the production was delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Filming began in July 2021 at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
The film became one of the most expensive Indian films to be made with a budget of Rs. 600 Crores. The cast of the film includes various renowned Indian actors including Prabhas , Deepika Padukone , Amitabh Bachchan , and Kamal Haasan . The film was released on 27 June 2024.
The film was later named as Kalki 2898 AD.
