Because of the civil war in Afghanistan, her family fled to Canada when she was around six.
In 2009, she started hosting a TV reality talk show, âThe Mozhdah Show,â which focused on discussions of taboo topics in Afghan society, like the hijab and divorce. The show ran on 1TV for two subsequent years.
She performed her hit song âDokhtare Afghan (Afghan Girl)â for the then President of the United States, Barack Obama , and first lady, Michelle Obama , for the celebration of International Womenâs Day in 2010.
She appeared on the finale of Oprah show, Surprise Spectacular in the year 2011, where she was praised by Oprah Winfrey for work in The Mozhdah Show.
In 2012, she co-hosted the final five episodes of countryâs most popular television show, âAfghan Star,â and final ten episodes the next year.
Competing with several artists from Asia and Europe, Mozhdah bagged the Best Female Artist of Afghanistan award at International Awards Show in Hamburg, Germany, in 2016.
