Some Lesser Known Facts About Moushumi Chatterjee
Moushumi Chatterjee is an Indian film actress and politician. She primarily works in Hindi and Bengali films. She was one of the top-paid actresses in the 1970s. check sources NDTV
In an interview, while talking about starting her acting career she said that when she was in class 5 a Bengali film director noticed her. The director thought of casting her in his Bengali film âBalika Badhu.â He then met Moushumiâs parents for their consent. His father rejected the offer. Later, the directorâs wife, who was a well-known actress convinced Moushumiâs father to allow her to work in the film. However, she was not happy to work in the film as she did not enjoy wearing makeup and heavy dresses for the film. She even escaped from the makeup room several times.

Soon after the release of the film, the Indian music director Hemant Kumar asked her father to take her to Mumbai for a Durga Pooja. Reportedly, some media sources started speculating that Hemant wanted Moushumi to be his daughter-in-law. The rumours turned out to be true when Moushumi got married to Hemantâs son Jayanta Mukherjee. At the time of her marriage, she was in class 10. She even took her doll, her pet dog, and her friend to her in-lawsâ house after her marriage.
Moushumi then acted in many Bengali films such as âParineetaâ (1969), âOgu Bodhu Sundariâ (1981), âGoynar Bakshoâ (2013), and âSesh Sangbadâ (2016).
