Since childhood, Mona Singh wanted to become an actor.

While she was studying in school, she participated in various extra-curricular activities like singing, dancing, stage plays, and fashion shows.
Her father suffered an injury on one of his legs in an Indo-Pak war.
She started her career as a model.
In her struggling days, she used to travel from Pune to Mumbai to audition for various TV commercials and acting projects.
For her debut serial ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin,’ she received Rs 1.5 lakh for a month. From the second month she received a hike, and her fees was revised to Rs 3.5 lakh. She gave 50 auditions for her role as Jassi in the serial.
The concept of the serial was taken from the Colombian TV drama ‘Yo soy Betty, la fea.’
