Mohan Joshi is an Indian film, television, and theatre actor.
He was born in a lower-middle-class family in Bangalore and lived there for 7 years. Later, he moved to Pune, and while he was in college, he joined a theatre group.
After completing his graduation, he started working at Kirloskar Group in Pune.
Later, he left his job and started his own transport company where he himself worked as a truck driver for almost eight years. After one of the vehicles of his transport company met with an accident, he decided to shut down his company.
While he was struggling for a better living, he continued to act in theatre plays. He came into the limelight with his theatre play ‘Kuryat Sada Tingalam.’ He has performed in this play for more than 1000 times.

In 1987, after closing his company, he decided to move to Mumbai to make his career in acting.

He has performed in more than 8000 stage shows and 30 theatre plays. Some of his well-known theatre plays are Aasu Ani Hasu, Gadvach Lagna, God Gulabi, Goshta Janmantarichi, Kalam 302, Mi Revati Deshpande, Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark, Double Cross, and Aaranyak.

Later, he got offers to act in Marathi films. He has acted in more than 70 Marathi films. Some of his Marathi films include Sawat Majhi Ladki (1993), Tu Tithe Mee (1998), Gharabaher (1999), Not Only Mrs Raut (2003), Deool Band (2015), Mulshi Pattern (2018), and 66 Sadashiv (2019).

In 1999, he received the ‘National Award’ for the Marathi film Gharabaher (special mention).

In 1993, Adhikari Brothers, Gautam Adhikari and Makrand Adhikari offered him the Bollywood film ‘Bhookamp.’ He played the character of ‘Gangster Daya Patil’ a villain in the film. It was the beginning of his journey as a villain in Bollywood.

Later, he played a negative character in many Hindi films including Gaddaar (1995), Yeshwant (1997), Ishq (1997), Gangaajal (2003), Baghban (2003), and Yeh Hai India (2017). Soon, he became one of the favourite villains of Bollywood.
He was appointed as the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad in 2003. He left this position in 2011 and was re-elected in 2013.
In 2017, he acted in the Bhojpuri and Gujarati films including Janam Janam Ke Saath, Tabadala, and Hareem.

In the same year, he received the ‘Vishnudas Bhave Award’ for his contribution to the Indian theatre. The trophy is accompanied by a citation and a cash price of Rs 25000.
He has appeared in many popular Marathi TV serials like Bhairoba (2010), Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta (2012), Chala Hawa Yeu Dya (2015), and Kahe Diya Pardes (2016).

He has also acted in many Hindi TV serials. Some of his Hindi TV serials are Jamuniya (201), Dhoondh Legi Manzil Humein (2010), and Daadi Amma Daadi Amma Maan Jao (2020).
