MG Abhinaya was born and raised in a small village in Karnataka. She is known for her work in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries.
Despite being physically impaired in hearing and speech since childhood, she successfully established herself in the South film industry. In an interview, she once revealed that when she was 1 month old, her parents got to know about her impairment in hearing and speech.

Abhinaya has been very active in cultural programs and events since her childhood. She started acting in commercials at the age of 11.
In an interview, she once revealed that she had undergone a risky operation of the ear (Cochlear Implantation) that had helped her in hearing with the help of a hearing aid.
Since her teenage, Abhinaya has mastered sign language and lip reading in English.
In an interview, she revealed that she wrote her script dialogues in English and her mother helped her in practising the dialogues for lipsyncing.
At the age of 17, she started her acting career in Telugu films, and in 2008, she appeared in 3 Telugu films: Neninthe, King, and Sangamam in supporting roles.
In 2008, during a portfolio shoot for an ad commercial, she was noticed by the renowned film director P. Samuthirakani who cast her in his upcoming film Naadodigal (2009). In an interview, she said she considered P. Samuthirakani as her father figure.

Even though her voice was being dubbed, MG Abhinaya captured the attention of various film directors and filmmakers with her incredible acting skills and perfect lipsyncing.
Her character as Pavithra in the film Naadodigal (2009), was appreciated by the audience, leading to Abhinaya being chosen to portray the same role in the Kannada version of Naadodigal (2009), titled Hudugaru (2011).
Some of her popular films are Sambho Siva Sambho (2010), Dammu (2012), Veeram (2014), Thakka Thakka (2015), Kuttram 23 (2017), Kicchu (2018), Sita Ramam (2022), Kuttram Purinthal (2023), The Family Star (2024), and Paani (2025).
In 2017, she appeared in the lead role in the Telugu film Chandrudu (2017).
In an interview, Abhinaya once mentioned that she considered her father and actor Ravi Teja as her inspiration for her acting.
Abhinaya has appeared in supporting roles in more than 55 films in different languages. She has worked with many superstars in the South film industry.
In 2025, her film Seetamma Vakitlo (2013), was released worldwide. Despite having a short role, Abhinaya portrayed her part to perfection and became one of the highlights of this film.
