| Controversy | Fight with Pakistani bowler Shaheen Afridi On 12 February 2025, during the 3rd ODI match of the tri-series against Pakistan, he was batting with the captain Temba Bavuma . During the 29th over, Shaheen Afridi was bowling when he played one ball and made a gesture to a Pakistani fielder by swinging his bat, after which the bowler approached him and had a verbal spat. Later in the over, Afridi also obstructed his path while running a single. Afridi was later given a demerit point and fined 25% of his match fee for violating the Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct.  |

Some Lesser Known Facts About Matthew Breetzke
Matthew Breetzke started playing cricket when he was young as his father fully supported him in becoming a cricketer.

When he was 4 years old, he asked his father for a red leather ball who gifted him one, starting his cricketing journey.
When he was 6 years old, he met the South African legend Jacques Kallis which made him more determined to become a cricketer.
In 2008, he scored 154 runs for the Under-10 team of his school, Grey High School, against a rival school, Dale.
In 2011, he hit 124 runs for the Under-14 school team against the same rival.
He also trained as a wicketkeeper, but could not learn the technique so dropped the plan.
He played rugby for his high school team, but later quit the sport to become a cricketer.
When he played school cricket, he often kept up to 5 pairs of socks as he couldn’t decide which socks to wear. So, he always decided it before the match.
He played for South Africa in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018.

In his debut test match for South Africa, he got out on a duck in the first innings.
On 29 September 2024, he scored his first T20 half-century with 51 runs in 41 balls against Ireland.

On 10 February 2025, he made his maiden ODI hundred with 150 runs in 148 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes.
In the 2025 IPL auction, he was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his base price of Rs 75 lakhs.
