Mary Elizabeth Ellis was trained in gymnastics in her childhood.
She taught gymnastics from the age of 13 to younger children till she was 26 years old.
She started her acting career as a theatre artist while studying in elementary school, in local theatre productions in Mississippi.
She met her husband actor Charlie Day at a bar in New York in 2001.
