Martina’s mother said that she named her daughter after the most celebrated female player at the time of her birth, Martina Navratilova.
Martina Hingis started competing at the age of 4 and turned pro at a mere age of 14.
Melanie Molitor, Martina’s mother, has been her coach for most of her career.
At the age of 12, in 1993, Martina Hingis won French Open Girls’ Singles title and became the youngest player to win a Grand Slam Junior Title.
