Some Lesser Known Facts About Marlo Hampton

During an interview, she revealed that she ran away from her home when she was 10 years old after her mother beat her severely. She further claimed that she had a strained relationship with her brother for several years and said,

I went in the bathroom and I bathed my little brother and I told him ‘I’ll be back.’ And he was even mad with me for years because he felt I never came back for him, but I was 10. I knew I was just tired of being beat.”

When she was 11 years old, she entered the foster care system, leaving her home due to her mother’s drug addiction. She lived with five foster care families till she turned 18.
Her first foster care family was from Jamaica. During an interview, she revealed that she called a social worker and was put in a temporary shelter as the foster father was abusive.
She claimed that she was kicked out of one of her foster families in St. Petersburg, Florida, after the foster mother found out that Marlo was talking about the strictness at her home.
She revealed that she was removed from one of the foster homes after the foster mother, who was a school teacher, noticed her biological daughter felt she wasn’t getting enough attention.
Her first job was working at a McDonald’s restaurant when she was 16 years old.
She worked at a Contempo Casuals store when she was a teenager.
She founded the Red Carpet Boutique at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta in 2008.
