Some Lesser Known Facts About Manoj Kumar Verma
After he started his study for the civil service exam, he became part of the 1998 IPS batch at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
He was first posted as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal.
He served as the police commissioner of Siliguri and was later transferred and appointed Inspector General (IG) of Traffic in West Bengal in 2016.
In 2017, he served the position of Inspector General of police (IGP) in Darjeeling and ADG and Inspector general of the Intelligence Bureau.
In 2017, he was awarded the Police medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) on Independence Day.
In 2019, Verma was felicitated with the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for his work as the Police commissioner of Barrackpore.
 In January 2024, he served as the Additional Director General (ADGP) and Inspector-General of Police (Law and Order) of West Bengal Police.
On 17 September 2024, he was appointed as the new commissioner of Kolkata Police by the West Bengal government. He replaced Vineet Kumar Goyal.
