| Controversies | Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) did an audit of several shelter homes in Bihar in 2017. During its final report in 2018, it reported that several girls in shelter homes were sexually abused, raped, and tortured. The head of an NGO named Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti, Brajesh Thakur, was accused of raping and killing several girls at a shelter home in Muzaffarpur. Manju Verma is an Indian politician.Ā She has been a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly (MLA) for two terms in 2010-2015 and 2015-2020. From 2015 to 2018, she served as the Social Welfare Minister of Bihar in Nitish Kumarās cabinet. In 2018, she made headlines for her involvement in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case.
She did not enter politics till her early 40s before contesting and winning the Bihar Assembly elections from Cheria-Bariarpur constituency in 2010 and becoming an MLA for the first time.
