  • Mamukkoya was an Indian actor, who played comic roles and supporting roles in more than 450 Malayalam films. He is the first actor to receive State Award for Best Comedian in Malayalam cinema. check sources Live Mint

  • During his school days, he participated in stage plays and from there, he started developing an interest in acting.

  • Mamukkoya (also known as Mamukoya) started playing football while studying in school. He used to play football even in his older days.

  • After completing his school, he started working at a timber yard in Kallayi, to support his family financially. He also used to sell mud and moringa leaves & sticks. However, he was inclined towards acting, so, he used to work at a timber yard in the day and did stage plays at night. He also joined a cultural troupe named Saigal Arts Productions.

  • Mamukkoya once shared that in his childhood, his family’s financial condition was not good. He said that even on his wedding day, he did not have shoes to wear. He had to borrow shoes from one of his friends. check sources Mathrubhumi

  • After performing in various Malayalam theatre plays, he started getting offers of Malayalam films.

  • After the demolition of Babri Masjid, he was invited by a few Congress leaders to campaign for their candidate for local body elections in Wayanad, Kerala. However, when he was invited on stage to support a Congress candidate, he asked people not to vote for Congress, as he believed that it was the Congress leaders’ decision to demolish Babri Masjid.   • He was actively involved in various social campaigns. He used to talk about unity among various communities. In an event, he even questioned the concepts of haram and halal in Islam. check sources The New Indian Express He said,

    In Islam, photography was considered haram, but when passports became mandatory to visit the holy place of Hajj, it became halal. Who decides this what should be included and what not?”

  • On 24 April 2023, he suffered a heart attack while he was in Wandoor in Malappuram, Kerala, to inaugurate a sevens’ football tournament. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. After being hospitalised for two days, he died of a brain haemorrhage. On his demise, the Governor of Kerala Arif Mohammed Khan shared his grief through his Twitter account. He tweeted,

    Heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of noted actor Sri #Mamukkoya who acted in 450 films. His natural humour, Malabar accent and rural touch in acting endeared him to viewers. May his soul rest in peace.”
