Mallika Dua grew up in New Delhi.

In childhood, she wanted to become an astronaut.
Her father wanted her to become a classical singer. When she was around 4 years old, she started her training in Indian classical music. Later, she decided that she would not pursue singing as her career.
While she was studying at Franklin and Marshall College, she performed in various theatre plays.
After returning to India, she took a break of one year.
She then joined an advertising agency named McCann Erickson as an intern. After working there for eight months, she left the job.
Mallika then joined Contract Advertising and worked there for around two years.
There, she worked as an actor, voice-over artist, and scriptwriter.
She continued performing in various theatre plays along with her jobs. Simultaneously, she auditioned for various advertisements and acting projects.
She then appeared in a few TV commercials.
She came into the limelight in 2016 with her comedy video Shit People Say: Sarojini Nagar.

In the same year, the YouTube channel The Viral Fever offered her a job in Mumbai.
She once shared that had she not been a comedian, she would be an interior designer.
She has worked as an advertisement copywriter before making her career as a comedian.
