Some Lesser Known Facts About Mahesh Kumar Khichi
After completing his formal education in 1999, Mahesh Kumar Khichi started working as a finance consultant.
He later became interested in politics and joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
In 2022, he became a councillor for the first time from the Devnagar ward of Delhi MCD.

On 14 November 2024, he became the first Dalit Mayor of Delhi after defeating BJP’s Kishan Lal from Shakurpur ward (47) by 3 votes. He got 133 votes while Lal got 130 votes. He would be Mayor for 5 months as the election was conducted in the middle of the year.

Along with him, AAP’s Ravindra Bhardwaj, a councillor from Aman Vihar, became the deputy mayor.
After becoming the Mayor, Khichi alleged that BJP tried to bribe their councillors, but weren’t successful.
