Some Lesser Known Facts About Lubna Salim
Lubna Salimâs father used to work as a journalist and later joined the film industry as a screenwriter.
Her mother used to work as a costume designer in the Hindi Film Industry.
Being associated with a filmy background, she started acting in theatre at a tender age. Her parents were members of the âIndian Peopleâs Theatre Associationâ (a theatre group). Lubna gave her first performance with the group at the age of 7 years and acted in the famous play âGodanâ by Premchand.
She had received the offer to play the child Umrao Jaan in the Rekha starer film âUmarao Jaan.â But due to her studies, she had to refuse the offer.
When Lubna Salim was 16, she also tried her hands on acting in commercial movies. But she was not comfortable with the intimate scenes and exposure. So, Lubna dropped her idea of becoming a mainstream actress. But as she loved acting, she continued theatre.
During her college, she participated in the college plays and won the âBalraj Sahniâ award for Best Actress at an inter-college play competition.
She was nominated for the ITA Best Actress award twice for her performance as Chhatrapati Shivajiâs mother, Jijabai.
Lubna Salim has hosted various shows for ETV Urdu.
She has also worked as a voice-over artist. She has also worked as a model for various ad campaigns including ICICI Bank, Ariel, Pepsodent, Mediker and many print shoots.
She has been active as a theatre artist for more than two decades. She also travels across the country for her shows.
