Some Lesser Known Facts About Luana Alonso
At the age of four, she started swimming and started participating in competitions at the age of six.
Her father inspired her to become a swimmer.
In 2020, she finished 28th in her event at the Tokyo Olympics.
In 2021, she injured her shoulder which affected her sporting career for one year.
She was the finalist in four individual swimming events at the 2022 South American Swimming Championships such as eighth place in 50m Backstroke, sixth place in 50m butterfly, fourth place in 100m butterfly, and fourth place in 200m butterfly.
In 2023, she reached her personal best in the 100m butterfly event by breaking the one-minute barrier with a time of 59.88 seconds during a competition in Westmont, California.
Before participating in the 2024 Olympic Games, she stated in a live session on Instagram that she wanted to represent the United States in the swimming competition over Paraguay.
 After she failed to qualify for the women’s 100m butterfly semifinals by 0.24 seconds at the 2024 Summer Olympics, she announced on her Instagram handle that she would take retirement from swimming competitions.
